75th Anniversary of D-Day Commemorative Convoy

The 75th Anniversary of D-Day Commemorative Convoy recreated General Eisenhower’s drive from D-Day Headquarters at Southwick House to former USAAF Greenham Common on the eve of Operation Overlord 5 June 1944.

For practical and logistical reasons the convoy travelled on Saturday 22nd June 2019 (D+16) to coincide with the 75th Anniversary Year of D-Day.

Over 65 WWII era military vehicles and modern day Jeeps escorted by 38 motorcycle outriders from The Royal British Legion Riders Branch, plus support and safety vehicles took part in the convoy.

The convoy travelled from Southwick House and stopped at  Lasham; Milestones Living History Museum in Basingstoke; travelled through the village of Kingsclere and onto Greenham Common.  The final stop for the convoy was at Newbury College who hosted us for the rest of the afternoon.
